There are three things that you can do to stop acne before it becomes a real problem. If these things don't work, don't feel like there is nothing left to do, there are lots of special creams available and even your doctor can give you one that is sure to work.
1. Keep your skin clean
Pimples don't happen because our faces are dirty or because we don't wash ourselves properly.
They happen because the pores in our skin sometimes get clogged. It is natural for our skin to have some oil; this is what keeps it soft and young.
However, sometimes our skin makes much more oil than it can use. This oil gets thick and gluggy and just sits on the skin; all the while more oil is being made and can't make it to the surface to wash way.
After a little while it blocks up the skin completely and our skin gets irritated. This is when the red splotchy marks come out. Sometimes the clogged skin even gets infected, this is when the pimples come out.
It is important to wash our faces well twice a day. Be careful not to scrub hard at your face and the acne.
Instead of helping it this can make it worse. Scrubbing hard hurts the skin that is already damaged and more pimples will start because it was made vulnerable.
Don't use soaps that are meant for the rest of your body. Use a gentle soap for sensitive skin. If you already have some acne you can get a special soap or liquid cleanser with antiseptic in it.
This fights off the infection.
Using normal soap can dry out our skin.
If we dry out the oils that our skin needs to stay healthy it will work harder and faster trying to make more oil.
2. Drink lots of water
To keep our skin healthy we should drink lots of water.
It is recommended that we should drink six to eight glasses of water every day. Other drinks like soda and milk cannot be used instead of water.
Water cleans our bodies from the inside. Water takes oxygen through our blood and washes away toxins caused by the left over waste. It cleans out all of our bodies' operating system and vital organs that keep us healthy.
Our largest vital organ is in fact our skin. So water washes the top of our skin when we splash it on, and it washes the underneath of our skin when we drink it.
3. Be careful of what you eat.
What you put into your body is what you get out of it. If you eat junk, your body will make junk. There are everyday foods (vegetables for example) and occasional foods (fast food for example).
If you eat occasional foods all the time it is not only bad for your health, it is very bad for your skin.
Food that is not good for your skin is fatty and has too many sugars. Our body does need some sugar but not the type of sugar that people normally ingest.
The sugars that occur naturally in fruit are very good for us. Unfortunately drinking fruit juice does not always give us this sugar.
Most fruit juice drinks have been processed and all the natural sugar is lost, so sugar as a sweetener is added to make the fruit sweet again.
It is best to eat your fruit and drink water.
After all we can't eat our water , and we still need to have both water and fruit. The sugar that candy is made out of is bad sugar; the sugar in fruit is good sugar.
Be sure to eat plenty of green vegetables.
Green vegetables have plenty of vitamins that work to keep our bodies healthy.
Too much red meat isn't good for us either. You should have some red meat. However, you should eat more vegetables than meat. Be sure to eat fish some days instead of lots of red meat every day.
Sometimes no matter what we do to stop acne from starting we will get it anyway.
Have a good acne treatment ready to apply to the first pimple you see.
Stop him fast before he has a chance to invite his friends to a party (on your face).
If your acne becomes a real problem even after doing everything right, don't worry, you can see a doctor who will prescribe some strong cream to do the job.
Acne can be embarrassing, but remember that everyone gets it. You don't have to live with it, if it is persistent your doctor can help you.
