Step 1
Use a cleanser to wash your face twice a day. It should be a mild formulation, but strong enough to remove dirt, oil and dead skin from your face.
Step 2
Exfoliate twice a week to remove dead skin cells and to open your pores, allowing dirt and oil to be cleansed away more readily. Use a scrub with exfoliating beads to slough off the skin and reveal the healthier skin beneath.
Step 3
Use an oil-free moisturizer each day to hydrate your skin and prevent it from drying out. Bumpy skin often develops when the skin is uneven and starts to peel or get rough patches. Moisturizer will nourish these areas and give your skin a smoother texture with regular use.
Step 4
Apply an over-the-counter retinol cream each evening after cleansing. This will soften the skin and make roughness, wrinkles and other uneven areas less noticeable.
Step 5
Treat acne, if your bumps are caused by blemishes. Use over-the-counter creams like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid to dry up your acne lesions. If severe, see a dermatologist to obtain prescription-strength treatments like Retin-A or Accutane to get rid of your acne once and for all
