Treatment For Uneven Skin Tone

A discoloration or dark spots on your skin can be embarrassing or simply frustrating. Women can use makeup to cover up uneven skin tone, but not many ladies want to apply a concealer on a daily basis. Patches of skin pigmentation can occur on any part of the body, though are more common on the face. While there are many fade creams on the market, most of them don’t work or may be unsafe, such as those containing hydroquinone. Instead of wasting your time and money, you can use home treatments for uneven skin tone.

What Are Those Dark Spots?

Melasma – This is a patchy area of dark skin that typically affects the cheeks, temples, or forehead. These sometimes appear after years of being out in the sun, and some women develop it during pregnancy.

Age Spots – These are like large, dark freckles that usually appear as we get older and have had many years of unprotected sun exposure. They’re also called liver spots or sun spots.

In both cases they’re referred to as hyperpigmentation where the body produces more melanin in those areas. Neither one causes any health problems, and are usually more of a cosmetic concern. Both melasma and age spots can be treated with the same home treatment to lighten skin.

Home Treatments

Vinegar – Use organic apple cider vinegar for best results since it contains many natural occurring minerals and other vitamins that are not present in distilled vinegar.

Dilute equal portions of organic apple cider vinegar and purified water. You can keep this in a clean bottle and use as a daily facial toner after your normal cleansing routine. Simply saturate a clean cotton ball with the vinegar and water mix and wipe it over your face. Allow to air dry to seal in the moisture. The smell will vanish in just a few minutes. Not only can vinegar help even out skin tone, but it’s also an excellent home treatment for acne, oily skin, dry skin, rough patches, and will help tighten pores.

Vinegar is naturally acidic and over time will gently remove dead skin tissue, revealing healthier, smoother skin beneath. It’s also a natural bleaching agent, and can make your skin lighter and more radiant.

Lemon Juice – Apply fresh lemon juice to areas of pigmentation daily. Lemon acts much in the same way as vinegar by lightening the skin and safely peeling the top layer away causing uneven skin tone to fade. Lemon smells better than vinegar, though the vinegar treatment is probably more convenient.

With both methods be sure to wear sunscreen when you go outdoors since your skin will more susceptible to burning.

It took many years for your skin to become discolored so give it time to even out as you try one of these home treatments. Soon you should find that your skin is smoother and brighter.
